Music hath charm. That's what my music teacher wrote in my autograph book when I was about 10 years old. I always remember that. Not that my piano-learning years charmed anyone, but it was formative in my love of beautiful music.
Does anyone not like music? Young babies, small children, old people, all respond to the beauty of music, in all its forms. It transports, it calms, it excites, it pacifies, it empowers, it speaks of love, it speaks to the inner self.
Jan Garbarek is a Norwegian saxophonist who plays jazz, but this piece is contemplative and definitely not jazz. (No longer available :-( but here's another rendition with the saxophone - it just has to have the sax!)
Music truly speaks when listened to alone.
